Former Arsenal Captain and England Centurion, Alex is the host of BBC’s Football Focus.

Raised in a council estate in Wapping, East London to a single mother, Alex started playing with the boys on the estate as a six year old, and her hard work and talent led to her being signed for Arsenal after being spotted by a local referee. Career highlights include scoring the winner in the UEFA’s Women’s Champion League, seven Women’s FA Cup wins, testing herself in the American league, playing in the Olympics for Team GB and helping her team bag a Gold and and Silver medal.

Moving into broadcasting, she became a pundit for BBC Sport, Sky Sports and the host of Football Focus, becoming the show’s first permanent female host in its 47-year history. Alex has hosted Soccer Aid and co-hosted BBC One’s daily evening Tokyo 2020 Olympics highlight show Today at the Games. Alex also hosted new BBC One daytime quiz show, The Tournament. In 2020, she co-presented Sports Relief and Children in Need and joined the hosting team of the years Sports Personality of the Year. In 2022, she was a leading broadcaster for the BBC throughout the ground-breaking women’s European Championship, including the emotional final in which the Lionesses triumphed.
