Katie Zelem


Captain of Manchester United Women's FC & Lionness

Katie Zelem is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United Women’s FC, which she also captains, and the England Women’s national team.

In July 2018, Katie joined the newly reformed Manchester United for their inaugural season in the FA Women’s Championship for the 2018-19 season. Katie helped United get promoted to the Women’s Super League in their first season.

In August 2019, Katie was named as club captain ahead of the 2019-20 season, a role that saw Katie become one of the youngest captains in the WSL. Since then, Katie has led United to a 2nd place finish and an FA Cup Final. 

In 2023, Katie was selected for the England Lionesses squad. Playing a key role on and off the pitch in the England’s World Cup victory in Australia and New Zealand.

Off the pitch, Katie uses her passions to overcome the stereotypes and barriers that are associated with women’s football.
